Dassault Systemes Interview Process

I applied at Dassault Systemes for the post of Software Engineer via an online application. I was then interviewed at Dassault Systemes. The hiring process at Dassault Systemes have four rounds in total - Telephonic Screening, Online Test, On-site Interview, HR Interview. The entire process took more than two weeks.

Round 1 - Telephonic Screening
I was called by a HR and my resume basically was screened. I was asked everything about myself and then the questions followed related to my experiences and my strong areas in the field. I was asked a couple of technical questions as well. But for the most of it, I was just answering stuff that I had written in my resume. The overall screening was fine and then I was informed about the online test which I had to clear.

Round 2 - Online Test
This test was comprising of English skill set questions, Logical reasoning questions and some technical questions as well. I did not have any problem while giving the test except that there was a limited time frame and it was really challenging to complete the test in the given time. The test was moderately difficult and required practice for being completed efficiently.

Round 3 - On-Site Interview
After I cleared the online test, I was called by the HR department and told about my scheduled on-site interview. I was glad. This interview was with my future manager. Most of the questions that were asked were based on C++ and since I am strong in it, I had no problem at all. Some of the questions that were asked from me are:
Q1. What is an interface in C++?
Q2. What is abstract method?
Q3. What design patterns do you prefer? Why?

Round 4 - HR Interview
The HR interview was the last one. I was asked all sort of the usual HR stuff - my aims, my vision, why I was interested in working with their company and more. Some questions regarding my previous questions were asked as well but they were not technical but general in nature. The interviewer was really nice.

How to crack Dassault Systemes Interview

Dassault Systemes require smart and professional people. They won't be compromising with any of the two aspects. So even if you are pretty good in the technical stuff, you need to work on being smart.

The first telephonic screening will give them a fair idea about your confidence level. Thus, please do prepare in front of mirror or with your friends. You need to make an impression here or it won't be a surprise if you are rejected on the very first stage only.

For the online test, you just need to work on your speed. The questions are not very difficult and even if a few are, you can always jump on to the next. But speed matters as you have to clear in the given time.

For the technical interview, go through with C++. You will find that most of the questions are based on that programming language and if you know that, there are good chances to impress the manager.

The HR round is a usual one. Negotiation was not allowed to me but I was content with the offer made and so I grabbed it.

Maths Magic Riddle

I can prove why 1 = 2

Step1. Lets say y = x
Step2. Multiply through by x xy = x2
Step3. Subtract y2 from each side xy - y2 = x2 - y2
Step4. Factor each side y(x-y) = (x+y)(x-y)
Step5. Divide both sides by (x-y) y = x+y
Step6. Divide both sides by y y/y = x/y + y/y
Step7. And so... 1 = x/y + 1
Step8. Since x=y, x/y = 1 1 = 1 + 1
Step9. And so... 1 = 2

Tricky Iq Question

In a jar, there are some orange candies and some strawberry candies. You pick up two candies at a time randomly. If the two candies are of same flavor, you throw them away and put a strawberry candy inside. If they are of opposite flavors, you throw them away and put an orange candy inside.

In such manner, you will be reducing the candies in the jar one at a time and will eventually be left with only one candy in the jar.

If you are told about the respective number of orange and strawberry candies at the outset, will it be feasible for you to predict the flavor of the final remaining candy ?

Tough River Crossing Riddle

This one is a bit of tricky river crossing puzzle than you might have solved till now. We have a whole family out on a picnic on one side of the river. The family includes Mother and Father, two sons, two daughters, a maid and a dog. The bridge broke down and all they have is a boat that can take them towards the other side of the river. But there is a condition with the boat. It can hold just two persons at one time (count the dog as one person).

No it does not limit to that and there are other complications. The dog can’t be left without the maid or it will bite the family members. The father can’t be left with daughters without the mother and in the same manner, the mother can’t be left alone with the sons without the father. Also an adult is needed to drive the boat and it can’t drive by itself.

How will all of them reach the other side of the river?
