They were made to sit in such a way that the man A cannot see the man A & B. the man B can see only A. the man C can see both A&B. the three men are shown 5 hats by the jailer amongst which 2 of them are black and three of them are white. After showing the hats, the men are blindfolded by the jailer, and the jailer places one hat on each one of the men's head. After this, the jailer removes the blindfolds. The three prisoners are told by the jailer that if any one of them guesses the color of the hat within 1 minute, all of the three men will be freed. If they don't guess the right answer, then they will be executed. The prisoners cannot see their own hats. But all the three men are intelligent. Immediately after 59 seconds the man A shouts the color of the hat which is the correct answer.
