This illusion works on our size perception. You will be surprised to know that both the orange circles are exactly same in the sizes. But you might think that the right one is bigger right? Why? This is because we are perceiving the sizes in relation with the surrounding circles. Since the left ones are larger, we perceive that the inner orange circle is smaller than the right one.

This illusion is the proof of how smart our brain is. In the first figure, the three circles are cut and placed in a manner that we can easily trace a triangle on the top of them even though it is not there. Similarly in the second figure, we can make out a sphere on which the spikes are grown. It's awesome right?

The tricky thing in this illusion is that there is no spiral at all. They are concentric circles. Don't believe us? Try from the last circle. Then slowly move down to the center and you will be flabbergasted. The reason why our mind perceives it as spiral is the triangular stripes background that is merging in the center. Due to their mergence, we perceive even the concentric circles to be merging at the center and thus our brain produces the information of a spiral.
