Nintendo of America Interview Process

I applied at Nintendo of America for the post of Software Engineer through my university. I was then interviewed at Nintendo of America. The hiring process at Nintendo of America have four rounds in total - Written Test, Hiring Manager Interview, Cultural Interview and HR Interview.

Round 1 - Written Test
The written test was designed to test both the aptitude knowledge of a candidate and a bit of the basic technical skills. The level of difficulty was slightly higher than the previous companies in which I had given interviews but was not difficult to crack. The aptitude questions were a bit tricky but nothing that could not be solved in the given time if you have prepared.

Round 2 - Hiring Manager Interview
The next process was a face to face interview with my hiring manager. There was no pressure put upon me and it was a simple question answer round for most of the stretch. Questions on engineering principles, win 32 concepts and a bit on game theory were asked. Also, you must be good with C and C++. Many questions were asked based on these languages. Some of the questions that were asked to me:
1. Describe what is meant by template specialization is C++. Elaborate with examples.
2. What is sub classing in Win32?

Round 3 - Cultural Interview
This was something new. However if you go into details, this was just to check your personality and your confidence level. They just want to know if you can fit with their company's corporate image or not. Just answer them smartly and confidently. Be open with your thoughts and visions and they will like you. They just are afraid of non-active bookworms. Thus, here your body language and your social or behavioral skills will work.

Round 4 - HR Interview
The HR interview was the last one. Don't think that it is a formality round as it is not. If your resume was not looked upon in the previous rounds, it will be now. There will be questions regarding your projects in college and your studies. A couple of technical questions can be expected as well. After this round, the offer will be made.

How to crack Nintendo of America Interview

I have tried my best to write the interview process at Nintendo of America in detail. However, I would like to brief you somewhat about my experience and share some pointers that might help you with your respective interviews.

If you are not, then start practicing the aptitude questions. They will be easy but only if you are habitual of solving them. Otherwise, you will take a lot of time to solve them. Also, you can be asked those questions in face to face interviews as well. So it's better to prepare.

For technical questions, just do the C and C++ thoroughly at least. There will be many questions and there is a chance to put up a nice impression. Other than that just go with the basic of engineering concepts and stuff.

Practice in front of mirror or something like that for the cultural interview and HR interview. What matters in those interviews is your confidence which will build up gradually by practicing.

I don't know if negotiation is possible or not. My offer was good for me and I just accepted it. So, see to it yourself. Lastly, my best wishes with all of you.

Thanks Anmol for sharing the details of your interview.
