Hitachi Data Systems Interview Process

I applied at Hitachi Data Systems for the post of Senior Software Engineer through an employee referral. The hiring process at Hitachi Data Systems included two telephonic interviews and five on site interviews.

Round 1 - Two Telephonic Interviews
I had two phone screenings or interviews. The first interview was based on the storage concept, types of storage, management of storage, protocols including iSCSI and Fiber Channel, LUN masking and unmasking. The questions asked were good and moderately difficult. Usually, you expect and easy phone screening but it was not.

The second interview was dedicated towards the understanding of architecture and distributed system. It also included the concept of making the stack scalable. Again, the screening was more difficult than expected. You should be a good one to be selected for the on-site interviews. They are only looking for professionals. If you are not able to perform, you will be rejected straightaway without being called for the personal interviews.

Round 2 - Five Onsite Interviews
I don't have much to write about them separately and so I decided to collaborate all the things and tell you about them together. First of all, not all of these interviews are technical. You will face all sort of things from technical to human resources based to behavioral questions. I will list a few questions for you:
Q1. Implement a bipartite graph in C++.
Q2. How will you convince a small business customer to be on a private cloud if he is having 100 percent security and multitenancy while working on a public cloud?
Q3. What problems did you face in the xyz project that you did in your previous company?

Other than that, there were many technical questions based on the language you prefer. Even codes were given to write. The process was long and tiring for me. But the people are quite professional and are looking for another one. If they like you, you will get an offer soon. Also, you can negotiate the offer but I think they will offer you pretty much what you must have expected or even more and thus there will be no need to negotiate.

CHow to crack (get into) Hitachi Interview

Like I have told you above as well, they want only professional people in their company. So first of all, don't behave or answer in an amateur way. Be confident of the things you speak. If you are not confident with your answer, try the nearest approach. Avoid sitting blankly or blabbering anything irrespective of the question asked.

Other than that, if you are applying for the senior position, you must be very clear of all the required fundamentals and concepts. Also, be prepared to answer the questions based on your projects that you did back in your previous company. They will want to know what you're good at and what your weak points are.

So, prepare well and attempt with full confidence and you will definitely crack the Hitachi Data Systems Interview.

Thanks Neelam for sharing the details of your interview.

A strange tradition is followed in an orthodox and undeveloped village. The chief of the village collects taxes from all the males of the village yearly. But it is the method of taking taxes that is interesting.

Tough River Crossing Riddle

This one is a bit of tricky river crossing puzzle than you might have solved till now. We have a whole family out on a picnic on one side of the river. The family includes Mother and Father, two sons, two daughters, a maid and a dog. The bridge broke down and all they have is a boat that can take them towards the other side of the river. But there is a condition with the boat. It can hold just two persons at one time (count the dog as one person).

No it does not limit to that and there are other complications. The dog can’t be left without the maid or it will bite the family members. The father can’t be left with daughters without the mother and in the same manner, the mother can’t be left alone with the sons without the father. Also an adult is needed to drive the boat and it can’t drive by itself.

How will all of them reach the other side of the river?
