Invensys Interview Process

I applied at Invensys for the post of Trainee Applications Engineer through my university. I was interviewed at Invensys in 2012 and the process took just two days. There were four rounds in the hiring process at Invensys - Campus Pooling, Group Discussion, Technical Interview and HR Interview.

Round 1 - Pooled Campus
The first step was obviously pooled campus. It began with HR giving a presentation about the company. We were briefed about the clients, statistics and a few divisions. After that was an aptitude test. This test was further divided into two sections with thirty questions each - General Aptitude and Engineering Aptitude Test.

The general aptitude included questions based on logical reasoning, data interpretation and quant. The questions were simple. The time given was appropriate. The engineering aptitude test included questions majorly about control systems and instrumentation. The questions were straight forward and not complicated.

The test was evaluated that day and only those who qualified were called on the second day.

Round 2 - Group Discussion
The second day began with the next step in the hiring process which was group discussion round. The GD only lasted half an hour. Every candidate was given two topics to speak on and you had 15 minutes for each topic. The topics given to me were:
1. Crimes against Women
2. Indian Education System

Round 3 - Technical Interview
Those who qualified were sent to the next round which was the technical interview. It started with questions related with the projects that I had done back in college. There were some questions asked based on those projects. After that, the questions shifted towards the strong areas. Then the questions were asked majorly in those areas only.
Q1. What is 2-wire, 3-wire RTD?
Q2. What program is used for calculating RPM? Explain.
Q3. Basic Logic Gates Truth Tables.

Round 4 - HR Interview
This round was based on questions based on myself, my family and my behavior. The interviewer asked me about my family and the occupation of my parents. I was asked if I was willing to relocate for the job or not. I was also asked my plans for higher studies. Why or why not I was interested. More and more such questions were asked that basically gave them an idea about me and if I had what they were looking for or not.

I was offered the job and I took it happily as the package was nice being a fresher.

How to crack Invensys Interview

The Invensys Interview process was merely a two days process and thus it was hassle free. They seemed like people who wanted to hire people not scare them away. I felt that the difficulty level till the end was pretty fair as per the fresher level. I did not feel that unnecessarily difficult questions were put up just to put the candidate under pressure.

The written test was easy and most of the students were able to go through it to the next round which was the group discussion. This is the round you need to prepare for. You can be given any topic but most probably it will be based on the current society and causes so be prepared. If you don't speak up in this round, you are likely to be excluded. They want smart people who have a nice confidence level. They don't expect you to keep speaking flawlessly but they do expect you to speak up relevant things that can prove your smartness and confidence level.

The technical interview will majorly be based on the topics that you chose for yourself. Thus speak up truth when they ask you your strong areas. Don't lie to create a fake impression or you will face a serious problem answering questions afterwards.

The HR round is very simple and the interviewer was very nice as a person. I felt completely on ease. So, all the best for your interviews. And yes no negotiation is possible since it is a campus placement.

Now he asked his wife to divide the deck into two different piles which may not be equal but both of them should have equal number of cards facing up. There was no source of light in the room and the wife was unable to see the cards.
