Sapient Interview Process

I applied at Sapient for the post of Software Engineer Trainee through my college. The process took just one day and I was immediately called for the interview at Sapient. The hiring process had three rounds - on technical and two HR interviews. But before that, an online test was conducted by them to choose the appropriate candidates.

Round 1 - Online Exam
This online exam was divided into four sections:
Aptitude Test
Logical Test
Verbal Test
Technical Test
In the first three sections, the questions were basic and easy to solve. But I am fond of solving aptitude puzzles and often browse through them online. It might not sound that easy to other people who have never given a look towards them. The technical test was however a bit difficult. Most of the questions were based on C, C++ and Data Structures. I was able to clear the test.

Round 2 - Technical Round
Just like the online exam, most of the questions were based on C++ and data structures. Other than that, there were some questions on sorting and searching techniques. Obviously, the level was a bit up but still they kept close to the basic terms and concepts only. You can't really pick too difficult questions for trainee anyhow. The interview was good and lasted about an hour and a half. Some questions asked from me:
Q1. How to reverse a linked list?
Q2. What is binary search?

Round 3 - First HR Interview
This HR interview was focused on my resume and my college. I was asked about the projects I did in my college. A few questions were asked about the project. Why did I choose to be in this field was also asked. The interviewer asked me about my goals and why I wanted to join their company. The interview lasted for about half an hour and was good.

Round 4 - Second HR Interview
There was nothing much asked in this round and it lasted only fifteen minutes. I was asked about my family and if I was willing to sign up a contract or not. Some more human resources related questions were asked and then the offer was made. You can't negotiate for the trainee position as the salary is fixed.

How to crack Sapient Interview

Since you are giving the interview for the position of Trainee, they don't expect you to be exceptionally brilliant. If you are able to past the online exam, then you are an eligible trainee there itself. The technical round will prove your knowledge on a bit high level. The questions will be related to basic concepts only but there will also be cross questions. Prepare for C++ and data structures based problems and questions. It will get you through the technical round.

The two HR interviews are only there to judge the confidence level of the candidate. Just maintain the perfect composure and try to impress the interviewers with your answers. A nice way to deal here will be practicing mock interviews with your friends.

The interview process is easy and if you are serious for your career, you will easily crack it. All the best.

Thanks Anmol for sharing the details of your interview.
