Iris Software Interview Process

I applied at Iris Software for the position of Java Developer through an employee referral. I was interviewed at Iris Software in 2012 and the process took more than a month. The hiring process at Iris Software was a standard one with three rounds in particular - one telephonic screening, a technical round and a HR interview.

Round 1 - Telephonic Screening
I received a call from Iris Software after two weeks since I had applied. It came unexpected as I had lost any hope of being reverted by the company. But that call was actually the telephonic screening which was not informed beforehand. The interviewer inquired about me and my life so far after the college. She was interested in knowing everything about me. Nothing technical was asked but there were a couple of questions based on my resume. Other than that, basic human behavior related questions were asked.

Round 2 - Technical Interview
My technical on-site interview was scheduled a week after my screening. This interview was taken by a tech lead. The interview lasted for some fifty minutes. Only technical questions were asked in this round and thus it was pretty professional a round. Some of the questions that were asked from me are as follows:
Q1. Differentiate between abstraction and encapsulation.
Q2. What is runtime polymorphism or dynamic method dispatch?
Q3. When you declare a method as abstract, can other non-abstract methods access it?

Round 3 - HR interview
The HR interview was wholly a resume based round. All the questions were asked from my resume. My education, my extracurricular activities, my decisions, my projects, my strengths and my weaknesses. Everything was covered extremely well in this interview. The interviewer was so far the most polite one. I did not feel any pressure while answering the flood of questions.

I was offered a fair package after the interview. I accepted it because I wanted to work in the company and the offer was a decent one.

How to crack Iris Software Interview

The hiring process at Iris Software is pretty long. So the foremost thing that you must have is patience. There are long gaps between the interviews and if you lose patience, you will lose the opportunity.

Next, you should be concerned the most about the technical interview. Frankly, I can't give you any pointers as it depends on the interviewer which questions you might face. The questions can come up randomly from anywhere. So, you need to be thorough with the concepts. Nothing quite difficult was asked which was relieving. So all you need is to prepare at least for the basics of everything. As far as the telephonic round is concerned, you need to be confident and that's it. The questions are basic and all about you only. For the HR interview, be prepared with your own resume. That is the place from where the questions will emerge.

Rest, prepare well and give your best shot. All the best for your interview at Iris Software.

Maths Magic Riddle

I can prove why 1 = 2

Step1. Lets say y = x
Step2. Multiply through by x xy = x2
Step3. Subtract y2 from each side xy - y2 = x2 - y2
Step4. Factor each side y(x-y) = (x+y)(x-y)
Step5. Divide both sides by (x-y) y = x+y
Step6. Divide both sides by y y/y = x/y + y/y
Step7. And so... 1 = x/y + 1
Step8. Since x=y, x/y = 1 1 = 1 + 1
Step9. And so... 1 = 2
