Idea Cellular Interview Process

I applied through my university for the position of Graduate Engineer Trainee at Idea Cellular. The process took just one day and then I was interviewed at the company. The process included three rounds selection procedure.

Round 1 - Online Test
This was an hour long test which comprised of the aptitude questions as well as the technical questions. The technical ones were concentrated majorly on areas related with the communication engg. The test was not difficult and the time given was appropriate to complete it.

Round 2 - Group Discussion
The group discussion round was just the usual one. Some topics were given with time and we were asked to discuss about it. They were checking the confidence level of the candidates. But with that, they also checked who all were speaking relevant things and who all were just babbling stuff that had no relevance to the topic given. My performance was decent, I only spoke what I needed to and successfully climbed the ladder to the final round.

Round 3 - Personal Interview
After going through all those stages, finally it was the turn of personal interview. The round was technical for most of it. The questions were mostly based on the modulation techniques. Some questions that were asked are:
Q1. Which one between QPSK and BPSK is better and why?
Q2. What is coherent and non-coherent FSK?
Q3. What is sampling theorem?

After the technical questions, they asked me the HR related questions as well. They asked me about college projects and how I handled the problems I faced during those projects. They asked me about my goals and how I am preparing myself to achieve them. They also asked why I wanted to join Idea Cellular. I gave honest answers and they were happy with me overall.

How to crack*get into) Idea Cellular Interview

I went on a campus placement and thus I can only tell for the bunch of students going on the same. I had no problem clearing the online test whatsoever. The aptitude based questions were easy and even the technical questions were not very difficult. They know that you are a student and the level of difficulty is kept in accordance with that.

The group discussion is a heated one round. Of course everyone is willing to shout their way in and thus you have to find your place to speak up. But let me tell you one thing, if you speak up good, you will definitely get noticed and that is all you require. Beware of seeking fake attention. They are some intelligent people who prefer some intelligent argument and not mere shouting of things.

The technical round was moderately difficult. This may be because I was also preparing for other entrance examinations and thus I was thorough with my subjects. But then you must study otherwise there is no point giving the interview. The HR related questions is something you can expect very well. Don't hope for negotiations as you are on a campus placement and there is no room for that.

Finally I would like to wish best luck to all those who might be appearing in the interview at Idea Cellular in future.

Thanks Rohit for sharing the details of your interview.
