Yatra Online Interview Process

I applied at Yatra Online for the post of Senior Software Engineer through a recruiter. I faced a total of three different on-site interviews at the company - two technical interviews and one HR interview. The entire process took just a day.

Round 1 - First Technical Interview
I was called by the recruiter who informed me about this interview. After reaching the office, the HR le me to the interviewer. The interview was pretty basic and the questions were really basic level. I was able to answer each and every question without any hesitations. Some of the questions asked:
Q1. Differentiate between hash map and hash table.
Q2. Reverse a linked list recursively.
Q3. Merge two arrays such that the final array should be sorted.

Round 2 - Second Technical Interview
After the first interview, I was led by the HR to another cabin where some senior technical official took my second interview. This interview was just a step ahead from the previous one but I did not find it difficult at all. The interviewer was really talented and full of knowledge which made the experience really great. Some of the questions that were asked:
Q1. Given a binary tree, find whether all leaves are at same level or not.
Q2. Questions based on multi-threading and synchronization.
Q3. Two coding problems were given as well.

Round 3 - HR Interview
The final round was the HR interview. As far as I could judge, they were already impressed with me and the HR interview was just a formality. I was asked about my previous company and why I left it. I was asked about what I will do if I get into an argument with the manager. These sort of questions were asked by the interviewer.

After this interview, the offer was made. Negotiation was possible and I was able to hike the offer by 10 percent before I accepted the offer.

How to crack (get into) Yatra Online Interview

I found the interview process at Yatra Online to be pretty easy. If you have worked in some company, it should be obvious that you know all the basic things and can answer some average questions. This is what you are going to experience.

In the technical interviews, the focus of questions remained on Java and Data Structures majorly. These two areas are pretty strong if I talk about myself. If you have a doubt on yourself, do go through these.

Not much was asked about the project that I had done in my previous company. They don't seem interested in that. But they did ask me why I left the company in the HR round and thus you should have a good reason to support it.

The overall process is really easy and short. All the best for your interviews.

Difficult Brain Twister

A strange tradition is followed in an orthodox and undeveloped village. The chief of the village collects taxes from all the males of the village yearly. But it is the method of taking taxes that is interesting.

The taxes paid in the form of grains and every male should pay equal pounds corresponding to his age. In simpler terms, a man aged 10 years will have to pay 10 pounds of grains and a 20 years old will be paying 20 pounds of grain.

The chief stands on a riser containing 7 different weights next to a large 2 pan scale. As per the interesting custom, the chief can only weigh using three of the seven weights.

In such a scenario, can you calculate what must be the weights of the seven weights each and who is the oldest man the chief can measure using those weights?

Maths Magic Riddle

I can prove why 1 = 2

Step1. Lets say y = x
Step2. Multiply through by x xy = x2
Step3. Subtract y2 from each side xy - y2 = x2 - y2
Step4. Factor each side y(x-y) = (x+y)(x-y)
Step5. Divide both sides by (x-y) y = x+y
Step6. Divide both sides by y y/y = x/y + y/y
Step7. And so... 1 = x/y + 1
Step8. Since x=y, x/y = 1 1 = 1 + 1
Step9. And so... 1 = 2
