Organization : SunGard
Position : Senior Software Engineer
SunGard Interview Process
I applied at SunGard for the post of Senior Software Engineer through a recruiter. I was then interviewed at SunGard. The hiring process at SunGard for the post of Senior Software Engineer comprises of three rounds in total - Initial Screening, Technical Interview and HR Interview.
Round 1 - Initial Screening
I would not say that the screening was tough, but it was not easy either. The questions were mostly based on Java and the frameworks like spring. The interviewers were nice and friendly. I felt no burden over me as they were taking it forward in an easy manner. Even if I was not able to answer a question, they told me the answer saying that I should keep it in mind for future. So, the overall screening was good and they were happy with my performance.
Round 2 - Technical Interview
The technical Interview was lined up with a group panel. Many questions were asked in this interview. The questions started from the basics and then went on the complex levels. Some of the topics and questions that were asked:
1. What is the difference between array list and linked list?
2. Questions on Thread Synchronization.
3. Write and efficient code for extracting unique elements from a sorted list of array.
4. Difference between Vector and Array List.
5. Difference between HashMap and HashTable.
Round 3 - HR Interview
This was more of a formality round and it began with the questions regarding my previous job and company. I was asked about the kind of projects I did and what I learnt with my experience. After that, the offer was made and the salary was negotiable. So I negotiated and got a decent package.
How to crack SunGard Interview
The interview process at SunGard is short. After you clear the screening, you will be done in another day as there are only two follow ups out of which, the HR Interview is a quick one.
One thing that I must guide you towards is that they are looking for professional people. You must be having a vast knowledge in everything that you have done or made use of. They will ask you your strong areas and the kind of work you did in your previous job and then the questions will follow accordingly. Thus make sure, you are thorough with your strong areas.
You might feel a bit pressure in the technical interview as a lot of questions will be asked. But this is your chance to make an impression. Thus practice for such interviews with your friends if you don't feel much confident about it.
The salary they offer you is quite negotiable and thus you must use your talent to draw the desired amount. All the best for your interview.
