Mindfire Solutions Interview Process

I applied online for the position of Software Engineer at Mindfire Solutions. A seemingly early reply from the company was received by me i.e. only a week after I applied and I was called for the interviews.

Round 1 - Written test
The written test was the longest I have ever attended. Most of the places, the test is either an hour or at most a couple of hours long. But here, it was three hours long and thus it was really tiring. The test was based on aptitude questions, language skills, IQ related problems and reasoning skills along with basic programming skills. The aptitude questions and the programming questions were the easiest. Language skills test may depend from person to person but IQ based questions were moderately difficult.

Round 2 - Technical Round
To my surprise, the technical round was even lengthier than the written test. It was a whopping four hours long and by the end of it I was literally exhausted. But let me tell you what happened in between. The questions asked were pretty long (most of them). It was based on the overall understanding of C, C++ and Java and their implementation. Beware of the fact that you will have to do the coding on a paper and thus you must be quite sound with the languages.
Q1. Convert the user's input digit into words like 13 = thirteen. Range is 0-99.
Q2. Differentiate between document ready and anonymous function in JavaScript.
Q3. Questions regarding C string handling and creating a relational model DBMS for specified requirement.

Round 3 - HR Interview
The fact that the previous rounds are so lengthy will have effect on this HR interview for sure. It happened with me. May be they have designed it that way. I was completely exhausted when this round started. The questions were basic twisted HR questions which you can browse through in any of the online site dedicated for the same. But it is your patience and confidence that is to be tested in this round. It was not as I had thought but I think I did a decent job as I was given the offer afterwards.

How to crack (get into) Mindfire Solutions Interview

The foremost thing if you are appearing in the Mindfire Solutions interview is that you must go with a lot of patience. That is the thing that will be helping you the most. If you are new to interviews, you need it more. The rounds are pretty long and exhausting.

For the written test, you need not prepare if you have a fair aptitude skills. It was nothing too difficult to solve and you can easily complete the test in the given time. The problem is the technical round. The coding questions will be lengthy but the other questions are from the basic area so not to be worried about.

The HR questions were basic but since you have spent much time already in the interview rounds before, you might be losing that confidence you had in the beginning of the day. So watch out. Anyways, my best wishes for all the candidates.

Thanks Anmol for sharing the details of your interview.

Difficult Brain Twister

A strange tradition is followed in an orthodox and undeveloped village. The chief of the village collects taxes from all the males of the village yearly. But it is the method of taking taxes that is interesting.

The taxes paid in the form of grains and every male should pay equal pounds corresponding to his age. In simpler terms, a man aged 10 years will have to pay 10 pounds of grains and a 20 years old will be paying 20 pounds of grain.

The chief stands on a riser containing 7 different weights next to a large 2 pan scale. As per the interesting custom, the chief can only weigh using three of the seven weights.
