Autodesk Interview Process

I applied at Autodesk for the post of Senior Software Developer through a recruiter. I was then interviewed at Autodesk. The hiring process at Autodesk comprises of four rounds in total - Telephonic Interview, Two Technical Interviews and a HR Interview.

Round 1 - Telephonic Interview
This interview or screening was done by the HR and was pretty simple. I was asked about the past projects and the problems I faced in those projects. Then I was asked about some simple technical definitions which I was able to tell without any problem. Some aptitude questions were asked as well. Overall interview took about half an hour and I was able to answer everything confidently. Then I received another call which informed me about the on-site interview.

Round 2 - Technical Round
The interviewer took his time to study my resume and after he had done that, only then he began questioning me. This is something professional about them guys. I was asked vastly about my previous projects. After that followed some questions based on C++ and data structures. I was also given a code to write. The interviewer was really nice and has a vast knowledge in everything he asked me.
Q1. How will you reverse a string using recursive function?

Round 3 - Second Technical round
This round was a step ahead in difficulty than the previous round. No questions were asked about my previous job and they were purely put up to test my knowledge. I was given two programs to code which I was able to do. Although for the second problem, the interviewer had to give me a few pointers. Other than that, many questions based on C++ were asked which covered inheritance, templates and STL.

Round 4 - HR Interview
The HR Interview was just about the behavioral questions. I was asked about my strengths and weaknesses. I was asked about my future plans and my ultimate goal. A question inquired what will happen if I get into the dispute with my manager and how will I avoid disputes within my team. After all such questions, the HR seemed impressed with me and I was relieved. After the interviews, an offer was made which was more than my expectations and thus there was no need of negotiation.

How to crack (get into) Autodesk Interview

One thing which will help you a lot while giving interview at Autodesk is that the staff is pretty professional. They are not interviewing you to reject you but to select you. They will be very helpful and extremely friendly in the interviews. Therefore, you will not be doomed with pressure while giving your interviews. I believe that it is necessary and if you are not under unnecessary pressure you can perform better.

Talking about the pointers, do prepare well on C++. Prepare extensively as that is the area from where the maximum number of questions will be put up. If you are able to answer them, you are closer to making a positive impression. Also go through data structures. Other than that, be ready to answer questions regarding your previous job and the projects you did. If you can pull of all this well, you are likely to crack the Autodesk Interview. My best wishes with all the candidates.

Thanks Anmol for sharing the details of your interview.
