Armed robbers invaded a bank. They were busy looting when suddenly a phone rang. The phone happened to be at the reception. One of the robber asked the receptionist to attend the call and talk without giving away the situation. The call happen to be from her mother. She spoke, 'Do you have any emergency mom? Can you give me a call when I get home, I could really use your help in buying new curtains?' Then she hangs up.
The robbers are busy when the police arrives suddenly along with the mother of the receptionist. How did she know about the robbery?
The receptionist was pretty clever she played with the mute button of the phone while talking with her mother. She muted everything except the word emergency, call and help. So while talking, she sounded like 'Emergency… Call… Help' to her mother and thus she called the police.
You are stuck with the pirates who might even kill you on board. They give you a chance to survive. There are hundred black rocks and hundred red rocks. There are two empty sacks which are labelled as heads and tails respectively. You have to divide the rocks in two bags as per your wish. Then a fair coin will be flipped. If its heads, you will have to pick a rock on random from the sack labelled heads and if its tails, you will pick up from the tails sack. If you pick up a black rock, you will be freed and if you pick up a red rock, you will be killed.
How will you distribute the rocks so that your chances of survival are the best?
A confectionary shop owner allows children to purchase a chocolate in exchange of five wrappers of the same chocolate. Children from the locality consumed 77 chocolates in a month. Now, they all collected them together and decide to buy back chocolates.
How many chocolates do you think they can buy using those 77 wrappers ?
The children can purchase 19 chocolates in return.
Out of 77 wrappers, 75 will be used to buy 15 chocolates and two will be left spare.
The 15 chocolates will create 15 empty wrappers that can be exchanged to get three chocolates.
Three chocolates will return three wrappers which will help them buy another chocolate.
Now the wrapper from this chocolate and the two spare that were left earlier will get them another chocolate.
15 + 3 + 1 = 19
I am a book lover and i saw a book for Pound 97.
I am short of money , so i borrowed Pound 50 from my sister and 50 from my brother = Pound 100.
I bought the book, and had Pound 3 change. I gave brother Pound 1 and my sister Pound 1 and kept the other Pound 1 for myself. Now I owe my mum Pound 49 and my brother Pound 49. 49+49 = 98 + my Pound 1 = 99.
I borrowed my parents (Pound 50 + Pound 50 = Pound 100).

Three college toppers are summoned by the inspecting faculty. To identify the best from them, the faculty takes them into a room and places one hat on each of their heads. Now all of them can see the hats on other’s heads but can’t see his own. There are two colored hats – green and red.
Now the faculty announces that he had made sure that the competition is extremely fair to all three of them. He also gives them a hint that at least one of them is wearing a red hat. Now the first one who is able to deduce his own hat color will be awarded the most intelligent student of all award. After a few minutes, one of them raises his hand and is able to deduce the color correctly.
There are two things to keep in mind:
Firstly there is at least one red hat. (There can be two or three as well).
Secondly the competition is fair for everyone.
Thus if there is only one red hat, that person will see two green hats on other heads and will be able to deduce his own color as red. However the other students will see one red and one green hat and can never be sure. In such manner, the competition will prove to be partial for one student.
Suppose if there are two red hats. Then the students who are wearing red hats will see one red and one green hat on others. Now they must have deduced that there can’t be just one red hat. Thus they will know that they are also wearing a red hat. But the one who is wearing a green hat will see two red hats and can never be sure of his own color. In this case as well, the competition will not be fair.
Thus the only possible and fair means is if all of them are wearing a red hat. The one who is able to deduce the situation first, will raise his hand and will tell the correct answer.
There can be only two cases. Either Zoe is a liar or Joe is a liar.

Even then, a woman was able to escape the kingdom without incurring any kind of harm to the guard.
The woman started walking across the bridge when the guard was inside the hut. She walked all the time he was inside (5 minutes) and then turned and moved back towards the kingdom. On approaching the kingdom he was asked for papers and since she did not have any, she was sent back.
Jamie looked at his reflection on the window mirror of the 45th floor. Driven by an irrational impulse, he made a leap through the window on the other side. Yet Jamie did not encounter even a single bruise.
How can this be possible if he did neither landed on a soft surface nor used a parachute?
Four friends need to cross a dangerous bridge at night. Unfortunately, they have only one torch and the bridge is too dangerous to cross without one. The bridge is only strong enough to support two people at a time. Not all people take the same time to cross the bridge. Times for each person: 1 min, 2 mins, 7 mins and 10 mins. What is the shortest time needed for all four of them to cross the bridge?
The initial solution most people will think of is to use the fastest person as an usher to guide everyone across. How long would that take? 10 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 2 = 21 mins. Is that it? No. That would make this question too simple even as a warm up question.
Let’s brainstorm a little further. To reduce the amount of time, we should find a way for 10 and 7 to go together. If they cross together, then we need one of them to come back to get the others. That would not be ideal. How do we get around that? Maybe we can have 1 waiting on the other side to bring the torch back. Ahaa, we are getting closer. The fastest way to get 1 across and be back is to use 2 to usher 1 across. So let’s put all this together.
