Dr. Watson has a new card puzzle for Sherlock Holmes. He picks four cards out of the pack of 52 cards and lays them face down on the table. He offers four hints to Sherlock.
1) The left card can’t be greater than the one on right.
2) The difference between the first card and third card equals to eight.
3) None of the Ace is present
4) No face card has been included i.e. no queen king and jacks.
5) The difference between the second and fourth card is 7.
Sherlock smiles and tells all the four cards to Dr. Watson.
2, 3, 10 and 10
To maintain the difference of eight and keeping in mind the third and fourth hint, the first and third cards can be 2 and 10 or 10 and 2. But keeping in mind the first hint, we know that the first card is 2 and the third is 10. Similarly, if we see the fifth hint, the difference between the second and fourth card should be 7. Thus we know that the second card is 3 and the fourth card is 10.
If we tie a sheep to one peg, a circled grass is been eaten by the sheep. If we tie the sheep to two pegs with a circle on its neck, then an eclipse is eaten out of the grass by the sheep. If we want an eclipse then we put two pegs then put a rope in between then and the other end of the rope is tied up on the sheep's neck.
Question: how should we tie the peg and the sheep so that a square is eaten out from the garden's grass? We only have one sheep's rope and the peg and the rings.
Since marbles can only be taken out in pairs and you started off with an odd number of yellows there is always going to be one yellow left over that you'll keep putting back in the box until it's left on it's own.
Two trains under a controlled experiment begin at a speed of 100 mph in the opposite direction in a tunnel. A supersonic bee is left in the tunnel which can fly at a speed of 1000 mph. The tunnel is 200 miles long. When the trains start running on a constant speed of 100 mph, the supersonic bee starts flying from one train towards the other. As soon as the bee reaches the second train, it starts flying back towards the first train.
If the bee keeps flying to and fro in the tunnel till the trains collide, how much distance will it have covered in total?
A typical way will be to start thinking about summing up the distance that the bee will travel but that will be quite a tedious task. How about we offer you a much easy solution?
The tunnel is 200 miles long and the trains are running at as peed of 100 mph which means that they will collide exactly at the center of the tunnel and seeking their speed, they will collide after an hour.
Now consider the bee which is flying at a speed of 1000 mph and will keep flying till the train collides. As calculated, it will keep flying for an hour which means the distance that it will cover is 1000 miles.
You have to place all the digits from 1 to 9 without repeating any number in a tic tac toe board. The condition is that the numbers should add up to 15 whether you add the numbers in each row, column or diagonally.
Stephen died of heart attack. His soul was received in heaven. He was astonished to find himself as young as he had been in his young adult age. He looked around and there were thousands of young and naked people. His eyes searched to find someone familiar and suddenly he noticed Adam and Eve.
A mastermind organized a quiz competition in which six selected candidates were invite namely James Hunt, Ruxandra Bar, Sophia Connors, David Finch, Fred Odea and Brian Miller. A 'special puzzle' was asked to all of them. The first one to answer it was promised for a big award.
After that, the candidates were offered the meal before the mastermind stood up to announce the much awaited result. He started announcing:
'Ok now everybody!'
'The winner of…..'
'The Hardest Riddle Ever Event.'
And then he smiled. All the candidates understood who won.
Just look at the announcement lines. The first sentence in 'Ok now everybody!' If you take out just the first letter of every word, it will form 'ONE'. In the same manner the second sentence 'The winner of…..' will give form 'TWO' and the third sentence 'The Hardest Riddle Ever Event.' Will form THREE.
Thus the final sentence must form FOUR. There is only one candidate who can suffice with the first two letter and he is Fred Odea. The final sentence of the mastermind must be, 'Fred Odea: Ultimate Riddler!'
A worker is to perform work for you for seven straight days. In return for his work, you will pay him 1/7th of a bar of gold per day. The worker requires a daily payment of 1/7th of the bar of gold. What and where are the fewest number of cuts to the bar of gold that will allow you to pay him 1/7th each day?
Day One: You make your first cut at the 1/7th mark and give that to the worker.
Day Two: You cut 2/7ths and pay that to the worker and receive the original 1/7th in change.
Day three: You give the worker the 1/7th you received as change on the previous day.
Day four: You give the worker 4/7ths and he returns his 1/7th cut and his 2/7th cut as change.
Day Five: You give the worker back the 1/7th cut of gold.
Day Six: You give the worker the 2/7th cut and receive the 1/7th cut back in change.
Day Seven: You pay the worker his final 1/7th.
We know that Christanio Ronaldo tells the truth on only a single day of the week. If the statement on day 1 is untrue, this means that he tells the truth on Monday or Tuesday. If the statement on day 3 is untrue, this means that he tells the truth on Wednesday or Friday. Since Christanio Ronaldo tells the truth on only one day, these statements cannot both be untrue. So, exactly one of these statements must be true, and the statement on day 2 must be untrue.
Assume that the statement on day 1 is true. Then the statement on day 3 must be untrue, from which follows that Christanio Ronaldo tells the truth on Wednesday or Friday. So, day 1 is a Wednesday or a Friday. Therefore, day 2 is a Thursday or a Saturday. However, this would imply that the statement on day 2 is true, which is impossible. From this we can conclude that the statement on day 1 must be untrue.
This means that Christanio Ronaldo told the truth on day 3 and that this day is a Monday or a Tuesday. So day 2 is a Sunday or a Monday. Because the statement on day 2 must be untrue, we can conclude that day 2 is a Monday.
So day 3 is a Tuesday. Therefore, the day on which Christanio Ronaldo tells the truth is Tuesday.
