A professor gives a set of three questions to the most brilliant students of his university. You can see the questions in the attached image if required. To his surprise, there are different answers by all three of them. Below are the answers by them:
Now you have the information that each one of them has given one answer wrong, can you find out the real answers to every problem?
Since each one of them gave one answer wrong, this means that each one of them gave two answers right.
Let us assume that Student A gave a wrong answer to the first question. This will mean that Student B also gave a wrong answer for the first. This will conclude that the rest of the two answers given by them are correct. However, the answers are different and thus it is not possible.
Thus both Student A and Student B must be right with the first question and the answer to the first is two.
If you keep applying the same logic, you will come to a conclusion that following are the correct answers:
You trade apples from a village to your town. The distance is 1000 miles. This time you were able to get your hands on 3000 apples. You have a truck that can carry just 1000 apples at one time. At every mile is located a check post at which you have to submit 1 apple while going to the town. However, when you travel from town to village, you don’t have to give anything.
How will you make sure that you are able to transport maximum amount of apples to the town?
Imagine that you are travelling to a village. You happen to reach a point in the road where there is a fork. There are two ways that you can go into but only one amongst them is correct and leads to the village. You happen to see two men standing on the fork and you can ask them for the direction. To your bad luck, one amongst the two men always lies and the other one always says the truth. But you do not know who is a liar and who is not. At that point of the situation you are allowed to ask only one question to any one of the men standing there.
You can ask this question to any one person, "if I ask the man who is next you: which is the correct way and the road to the village, what would the person next to you answer?"
If you happened to ask this question to the liar, he will show you the wrong way.
And if you happened to ask this question to the one who says truth, he will also show you the wrong way.
Once you are done with this, take the other way. This will lead you to the village

Two mathematicians Steven and James were sitting face to face when Steven came up with an idea in mind. He scribbled something on the table and told James to read it. James said that it was wrong. Steven said it is absolutely right.
What would Steven have scribbled to make both of them correct?
You have ten boxes and an electronic weighing machine. In those ten boxes, you have chocolates. Each chocolate weigh 20 grams. But in one box the chocolates are defective and each weigh 19 grams exactly.
Now you can weigh in the electronic weighing machine but you can use that machine just once. How will you find out which box has the defected chocolates.
If you are thinking to hold one chocolate from each box in hand and then balancing weight in bare hands, you are thinking all wrong.
Let us begin by labelling boxes as 1, 2, 3 and so on till 10.
Now pick one chocolate from box 1, two chocolates from box 2, three from box 3 and so on. In total, you will have 55 chocolates now. (1 + 2 + 3 + ..... + 10)
The ideal weight of the chocolates should be 55 * 20 = 1100. However, somewhere in there are the defected chocolate/s.
You can judge that clearly by noting down the result of 1100 - total weight of chocolates. If the weight is less than 1 gram, the defected box is box 1, if the weight is less than 2 grams, the defected box is box 2 and so on.
Three college toppers are summoned by the inspecting faculty. To identify the best from them, the faculty takes them into a room and places one hat on each of their heads. Now all of them can see the hats on other’s heads but can’t see his own. There are two colored hats – green and red.
Now the faculty announces that he had made sure that the competition is extremely fair to all three of them. He also gives them a hint that at least one of them is wearing a red hat. Now the first one who is able to deduce his own hat color will be awarded the most intelligent student of all award. After a few minutes, one of them raises his hand and is able to deduce the color correctly.
There are two things to keep in mind:
Firstly there is at least one red hat. (There can be two or three as well).
Secondly the competition is fair for everyone.
Thus if there is only one red hat, that person will see two green hats on other heads and will be able to deduce his own color as red. However the other students will see one red and one green hat and can never be sure. In such manner, the competition will prove to be partial for one student.
Suppose if there are two red hats. Then the students who are wearing red hats will see one red and one green hat on others. Now they must have deduced that there can’t be just one red hat. Thus they will know that they are also wearing a red hat. But the one who is wearing a green hat will see two red hats and can never be sure of his own color. In this case as well, the competition will not be fair.
Thus the only possible and fair means is if all of them are wearing a red hat. The one who is able to deduce the situation first, will raise his hand and will tell the correct answer.
Jonathan has three boxes containing milk chocolates and dark chocolates. The problem is that all of them have been labeled incorrectly as follows.
Box1: Dark Chocolates
Box2: Milk Chocolates
Box3: Dark Chocolates and Milk Chocolates
How will he label all the boxes correctly by just opening one box?
It has been clearly mentioned that all the boxes are labeled incorrectly. If he opens the Box3, then he will get either Dark Chocolates or Milk Chocolates as it is labeled incorrectly. Let us suppose he finds Dark Chocolates in there. Now since all are labeled incorrectly, Box B A must contain Milk Chocolates and Box B must contain Milk Chocolates and Dark Chocolates.
