The world is facing a serious viral infection. The government of various countries have issued every citizen two bottles. You as well have been given the same. Now one pill from each bottle is to be taken every day for a month to become immune to the virus. The problem is that if you take just one, or if you take two from the same bottle, you will die a painful death.
While using it, you hurriedly open the bottles and pour the tablets in your hand. Three tablets come down in your hand and you realize they look exactly the same and have same characteristics. You can’t throw away the pill as they are limited and you can’t put them back or you may put it wrong and may die someday.
How will you ensure that you are taking the right pill?
You must put labels on the tablets as A and B before using. In that case, if you pour tablets together, you will get 3A, 2A 1B, 1A 2B or 3B. If they are from the same bottles you can take one from another bottle and save the remaining two for another day. If you get two from same and one from other, you can draw one from another bottle and you will have two pairs of which you can eat one and save the other.
The number of possibilities for the first as well as the second dice are 6 and 6 respectively. Therefore the total possibilities or outcome are 6 * 6 = 36.
Out of 36 outcomes, we need only one case i.e. the first gives 2 and the second gives 5.
Therefore, the probability will be 1 on 36 or 1/36.

There stand nine temples in a row in a holy place. All the nine temples have 100 steps climb. A fellow devotee comes to visit the temples. He drops a Re. 1 coin while climbing each of the 100 steps up. Then he offers half of the money he has in his pocket to the god. After that, he again drops Re. 1 coin while climbing down each of the 100 steps of the temple.
If he repeats the same process at each temple, he is left with no money after climbing down the ninth temple. Can you find out the total money he had with him initially?
Whenever you face such type of questions, it is wise to begin from the last thing. Here in this question the last thing will be the 9th temple. He climbed down 100 steps and thus you know, he had Rs. 100 before beginning climbing down. Thus, he must have offered Rs. 100 to the god in that temple too (he offered half of the total amount). Also, he must have dropped Rs. 100 while climbing the steps of the ninth temple. This means that he had Rs. 300 before he begand climbing the steps of the ninth temple.
Now, we will calculate in the similar manner for each of the temples backwards.
Before the devotee climbed the eight temple: (300+100)*2 + 100 = 900
Before the devotee climbed the seventh temple: (900+100)*2 + 100 = 2100
Before the devotee climbed the Sixth temple: (2100+100)*2 + 100 = 4300
Before the devotee climbed the fifth temple: (4300+100)*2 + 100 = 8900
Before the devotee climbed the fourth temple: (8900+100)*2 + 100 = 18100
Before the devotee climbed the third temple: (18100+100)*2 + 100 = 36,500
Before the devotee climbed the second temple: (36500+100)*2 + 100 = 73300

Therefore, the devotee had Rs. 146900 with him initially.
A thief was running from the police after the biggest theft the town saw. He took his guard in one of the thirteen caves arranged in a circle. Each day, the thief moves either to the adjacent cave or stay in the same cave. Two cops goes there daily and have enough time to enter any two of the caves out of them.
How will the cop make sure to catch the thief in minimum number of days and what are the minimum number of days?
The store room of your house is locked with a certain lock that can be closed without a key but requires a key to open which you own (there is no duplicate key). You decide to move your old stuff in the storeroom. After keeping the things carefully, you lock it back again perfectly. The next day, a dead body is found in your closed store room. Since only you have the key to the store room and you live alone, the police suspects you as a murderer. You can’t understand anything when suddenly a thought strikes your mind. There is a possible way using which the dead body could have been placed by someone else.
Can you find that way so you can tell the police and prove yourself to be innocent?
When you were inside the shed, the murderer replaced the lock with his own one that was identical to your original lock. When you locked the store room, you did not require a key and there was nothing abnormal for you. When you left, the murderer opened the lock with his key, planted the dead body inside and replaced the lock again putting the original lock in the place. He then closed it without any problem.
Once there lived a king who did not allow anybody to leave the kingdom and any foreigners in his kingdom. There was only one bridge that connected his empire with the outer world. A guard who was a sharpshooter was specially assigned for a lookout on the bridge. According to the orders, anyone moving outside should be killed and anyone coming to his kingdom should be sent back. To take rest, the guard used to sit inside his hut for 5 minutes and return back on the lookout. The bridge took a minimum of 8 minutes to pass.
Even then, a woman was able to escape the kingdom without incurring any kind of harm to the guard.
The woman started walking across the bridge when the guard was inside the hut. She walked all the time he was inside (5 minutes) and then turned and moved back towards the kingdom. On approaching the kingdom he was asked for papers and since she did not have any, she was sent back.
